How do I get to Calvary Baptist Church?
We are centrally located in Normal right off Main St. and close to ISU. (MAP)
When do I show up?
The Sunday morning worship service begins at 9:30 so we recommend arriving 15-20 minutes before the service especially if you have children.
What should I wear?
While some wear their “Sunday best”, most folks wear casual and comfortable clothes on Sunday morning. Don’t worry about what you wear-just come and experience Christ with us.
Where do I go first?
There are doors everywhere and first-timers can get confused. The best door to come in for the service is the main overhang door.
Once inside, you will be welcomed by our greeters and ushers. They will be able to direct you where to take your children. We have childcare available from birth to 5th grade. Children sixth grade and older are welcomed to sit with their parents in the morning service.
What should I expect during the service?
Calvary Baptist Church exists to bring glory to God by making a positive difference in the lives of people! We are an independent, Bible-based Baptist church serving Central Illinois for over 49 years. Our worship services are Christ-exalting and joy-filled and usually last 1 hr. 15 minutes.
Our Pastor and his wife want to meet you after the service
Once the service is over, Pastor Wingate and his wife, Sydney will be in the Visitor Center to greet you. Our Visitor Center is located in the back of the auditorium by the front doors (the ones you came in). We will not call you out or make you stand up during the service, but we are glad you came to worship with us. We will have a special gift for each member of your family.
What about Sunday School?
Our Sunday School takes place after the morning service and is completed by 11:45. Our Adult Sunday School is call Adult Bible Fellowships. Click here for more information.
How do I get connected at Calvary?
Getting connected at Calvary means participating in the Sunday morning service, ABF’s (large community groups), and a Gospel Community Group (small groups).
Sundays are a time for celebrating in worship of Jesus together, hearing the preaching of the Word, and sharing in Communion. Gospel Community Groups are the place where the seeds of the preached Word take root and become real. It is the place where we build relationships with one another and living life together. As well, it is within the groups within the neighborhoods of the city that we can participate in the work that God has called us to as a church. Our groups are an opportunity to love and bless the city in unique ways.
